Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “by
the grace of God I am what I am”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse eleven of First Corinthians, Paul told the
church members how, “we preach, and so
you believed.”, where we read:
The
verse begins, “Therefore
whether it were
I or they,...” Paul
began with the word, “therefore”
which means
“then, accordingly, consequently and these things being so”
“whether”
or “if” “it were I”
which refers to “it was Paul” “or
they”
which refers to “the others who share the gospel of Jesus Christ”.
Paul concluded by first acknowledging both himself and others who
were believers in Jesus Christ.
The verse goes on to
say, “...so
we preach, and so you believed.”
Paul
continued with the word, “so we
preach” which
means “therefore Paul and the others herald, proclaim and publish”
“and so you”
which refers to “the church members” “believed”
which means “think to be true, are persuaded of, place confidence
within, and trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining
or doing something such as saving faith”. Paul noted that both he
and the others “preached”
the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the church members in Corinth
“believed”
the message.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we see how he seems to rejoice in
the fact that the church members “believed”, and though he
and others “preached” the gospel, the result of them
“believing” was the goal. Jesus Christ came to give His life and
be resurrected for everyone who will “believe”, and
whether we or another person shares that “good news” makes no
real difference at all. May all who read these words not only
“believe” the gospel of Jesus Christ, but also be willing
to be a part of those who share His “good news” with others.
Next
time Paul questions
the church members how,
“say
some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
