Departing to the Sea of Galilee Matthew 15:29

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus,departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, you Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she cries after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshiped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is your faith: be it unto you even as you will. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour”, and in chapter fifteen and verse twenty-nine of his book, Matthew shares how Jesus, “departed from there, and came unto the sea of Galilee” where we read:

And Jesus departed from there, and came near unto the sea of Galilee;

and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

The verse reads, And Jesus departed from there, and came near unto the sea of Galilee;”. Matthew began with the words, “and Jesus departed from there” which means “and Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation and is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate left and went forth from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon”, “and came near unto” or “and approached and came forth to”, “the sea” which means “the large body of water known as the sea” “of Galilee” or “belonging to Galilee which means circuit and was the name of a region of northern Palestine bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan ”. Matthew shared how Jesus left the coastal areas of Tyre and Sidon and went to the “Sea of Galilee”.

The verse continues, and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. Matthew added the words, “and went up” which means “and arose and ascended” “into a mountain” or “into a lifting above the plain”, “and sat down there” which means “and was seated upon the mountain”. Matthew shared how Jesus ascended another mountain and was seated there.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see another time where Jesus “went up into a mountain”. Jesus often resorted to “coastlines” and “mountains” as He carried about His ministry among people. He created these places and now uses them for times to pull away from the crowds, meet with His Heavenly Father or have a special environment to minister or teach. God wants people to “pull aside” from their normal routines and be seated before Him and His Son Jesus, and when they do, He is there to listen, minister and encourage all who attend to His words.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus, “and great multitudes came unto him, having those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
