My Son, Give Me Your Heart - Proverbs 23:26

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bare you shall rejoice, and in chapter twenty-three and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, “my son, give me your heart” where we read,

My son, give me your heart,

and let your eyes observe my ways.

The verse begins, “My son, give me your heart, ... Solomon began with the words, “my son” or “my, Solomon's, male progeny and offspring”,  “give me your heart” which means “put, set, bestow, grant and permit to me, Solomon, your, Solomon's son's, soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections”. Solomon called upon his “son” to bestow upon him his soul, mind and will.

The verse continues, “... and let your eyes observe my ways.” Solomon added the words, “and let your eyes” or “and allow and permit your, Solomon's son's, physical eyes for vision and sight as well as mental and spiritual faculties”“observe my ways” which means “guard, keep, preserve and watch over my, Solomon's, journey, manner, direction and habits”. Solomon instructed his son to allow his physical “eyes” and mental faculties to keep and follow his direction and habits.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon wanted his son to grant to him his soul, mind and will as well as allow his “eyes” or mental and spiritual faculties to follow his ways. Solomon desired the best for his son, even as Jehovah God wants the best for us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to “observe”and keep His “ways” as we “observe” our parents or authorities' “ways” as well.

Next time Solomon says, “a whore is a deep ditch”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
