In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding”, and in chapter twenty-three and verse twenty-four of Proverbs Solomon said, “the father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice” where we read,
The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice:
and he that begets a wise child shall have joy of him.
The verse begins, “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice:” Solomon began with the words, “the father” or “the immediate male progenitor and ancestor” “of the righteous” which means “belonging to people who are right, just, lawful and correct” “shall greatly rejoice” or “will have exceeding gladness and joy”. Solomon shared how the “father” of people who are lawful and correct will possess exceeding joy and gladness.
The verse continues, “and he that begets a wise child shall have joy of him.” Solomon added the words, “and he that begets” or “and the person who births, brings forth and bears” “a wise child” which means “a youth who is skilled, shrewd and prudent” “shall have joy of him” or “will hold, own and possess gladness, glee and merriment from the child”. Solomon said the person who births a “child” who is skilled, shrewd and prudent.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how children who are lawful, correct, skilled and prudent cause their parents to be glad and joyful. Jehovah God wants us to be in personal relationship with Him that includes living in a right manner before Him and our parents and authorities. He gave His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal Savior and Lord, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach how to bring joy and gladness to the parents He has given to us.
Next time Solomon says, “your father and your mother shall be glad”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
