Paul
the apostle told the church members in Rome, “you
are inexcusable, O man, whosoever you are that judges: for wherein
you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that judge do the
same things”,
and he added, “But
we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against
them which commit such things.”
In chapter two and verse three of Romans, Paul asked if the person
who “judges”
and
does the same things, “shall
escape the judgment of God?”
where we read:
And
do you think this, O man, that judges them which do such things,
and
does the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God?
The
verse begins, “And
do you think this, O man, that judges them which do such things, ...”
Paul began with the words, “and
do you”
which means “the people who judge other”
“think this”
or “reckon, count, compute, calculate and make an account of what
Paul is about to declare”, “O
man” which
refers to “O human being whether male or female” “that
judges”
which refers to “who separates, puts asunder, picks out, selects
and chooses” “
them which do” or
“the people who exercise, practice, are busy and carry on with”
“such
things”
which means “of this kind or sort”. Paul questioned those who
“judged” people who “practiced” evil deeds.
The
verse continues, “...
and does the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God? ”
Paul
added the words, “and
does the same” which
means “and practice, exercise, are busy and carry on with” “that
you shall escape” or
“that the people who judge shall flee away or seek safety in
flight” “the
judgment”
or “the decree, condemnation of wrong, condemnatory or penal
sentence” “of
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul
questioned how these who “practiced” the same “sinful”
behavior they “condemned” thought they would “flee away from”
God's “judgment”.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how he challenged the people
who “judged” others for the same wickedness they committed. He
wondered if these people thought they would “flee away from the
“judgment of God”. His question was “rhetorical”, and
the implied answer from these people was to be a resounding “no”.
Jesus Christ came to the earth to suffer the “judgment of God”
for sin when He died upon the cross, and now all that is necessary to
“escape God's judgment” is to “believe and trust in Him”. Let
all who read these words “submit” themselves to Jesus Christ
before they face “the judgment of” Almighty God.
Next
time we see
Paul asks if they, “despise
the riches of his goodness and forbearance and long-suffering”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
