Paul
the apostle began his letter to the church in Rome by stating his
name and position in God's kingdom with these words, “Paul,
a servant of Jesus Christ, called to
be
an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God”,
and he added a reference to the way God “(had
promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures)”
“concerning
his
Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David
according to the flesh.” In
chapter one and verse four of Romans, Paul shared how Jesus was,
“declared
to be the Son of God with power”
where we read:
according
to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
The
verse begins, “And
declared to
be
the Son of God with power, ...”
Paul began with the words, “and
declared”
or “marked out, determined, appointed and ordained”
“to be the Son”
or “only begotten, loved and protected one” “of
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “with
power”
or “by strength, ability and might”. Jesus was “appointed and
ordained” to be God's “Son”
by
His mighty “strength and ability”.
The
verse continues, “...
according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the
dead:”.
Paul added the words, “according”
which means “down from, through out, toward and along” “to
the spirit” or
“the vital principal by which the body is animated” “of
holiness”
which means “majesty, moral purity and sacredness” “by
the resurrection”
which means “out and away from the raising and rising up” “from
the dead”
or “one that has breathed his last, lifeless, deceased, departed
and without life and inanimate”. Jesus Christ was shown to be the
“Son
of God with power”
through the spiritual principle of “moral purity and sacredness”
when he “rose”
“from the dead”.
When
we think through these words of Paul, we see how the “resurrection”
of Jesus proved His power and “sacredness”. No one has ever risen
“from the dead” under their own power other than Jesus,
and those who have risen before and after Him did so by the “power
of God”. Paul established early in his letter to the church in
Rome how Jesus was “God's Son”, and the “resurrection”
proved it. This same Jesus, who is testified by “the spirit of
holiness”, is willing to become the “Savior and Lord” of
everyone who will “believe and trust in” Him. God's “power”
was demonstrated in Jesus being “raised from the dead”,
and God's power will be shown to all who turn to Him, repent of their
sins and follow the One “declared to be the Son of God”.
Next
time Paul
shares more concerning Jesus, “by
whom we have received grace and apostleship”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
