Paul
the apostle told the church members in Rome how God, “ will
render to every man according to his deeds”,
and in chapter two and verse seven of Romans, Paul shared about those
“who by
patience continuance in well doing seek for glory”
where we read:
To
them who by patient continuance in well doing
seek
for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:
The
verse begins, “To
them who by patient continuance in well doing ...”
Paul began with the words, “to
them”
which means
“truly, certainly, surely and indeed the people to whom Paul is
referring”
“who by
patient continuance” which
means “who through steadfastness, constancy and endurance” “in
well doing”
or “performing that which is good and of benefit ”. Paul referred
to people who “do good” in a “constant and enduring” manner.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:” Paul
added the words, “seek
for glory” which
means “search for, aim for, strive after, require, demand and crave
for opinion, judgment, view, splendor and brightness” “and
honor” or
“deference, reverence and value”
“and immortality”
which means “incorruption, perpetuity, purity and sincerity”,
“eternal life”
or “without beginning and end, never to cease and everlasting
active, vigor, devotion to God and blessed”. Those who “do well”
with “constancy and endurance” look for “splendor, reverence
and incorruption from God.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see the “benefit” toward
those who “do well with endurance”. God acknowledges their desire
to have “splendor, deference and perpetuity”. These benefits are
available through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and God desires
for every person to be blessed with them. Oh that people might know
the “blessed” relationship God desires with them through His Son
Jesus, and that today is the “day of salvation” unto “well
doing” with “patient continuance”.
Next
time Paul writes,
“unto
them that are contentious”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
