Comforted Together by Mutual Faith Romans 1:12

Paul the apostle told the church members in Rome, “I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established”, and in chapter one and verse twelve of Romans, Paul shared how he desired to be “comforted together with” the church members “by the mutual faith” of them both where we read:

That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

The verse begins, “That is, that I may be comforted together with you ...” Paul began with the words, “that is” or “moreover and”, “that I may be comforted together” or “so Paul would be strengthened and consoled” “with you” or “with the church members”. Paul would be “strengthened and consoled” if the church members in Rome were “established” in their trust in Jesus.

The verse goes on to say, “... by the mutual faith both of you and me.”. Paul continued with the words, “by the mutual” which means “through the reciprocal and like-kind” “faith” which refers to “the strong and welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah through whom eternal salvation is obtained in the kingdom of God” “of you” which refers to the church members “and me” which refers to Paul himself. Paul knew the “reciprocal belief in Jesus” which was in he and the church members would bring him “comfort”.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see his desire to be “strengthened and consoled” by the “mutual faith” they had in Jesus. Both Paul and the church members in Rome believed in Jesus Christ as their “Savior and Lord”, and this brought great “comfort” to Paul. Jesus Christ desires for everyone to have this “mutual faith”, and His offer of “salvation” through belief and trust in Him is available today. May all who read these words be “comforted together” by the “mutual faith” of we all.

Next time Paul tells the church members that he, “would not have” them “ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes” he “purposed to come unto” them, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
