Glory, Honor and Peace for Good Works Romans 2:10

Paul the apostle told the church members in Rome, To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life, but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath”, and he added, “Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile.” In chapter two and verse ten of Romans, Paul shared about treasuring up, “” where we read:

But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

The verse begins, “But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, ...” Paul began with the word, “but” which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence over what was just stated “glory” which means “opinion, judgment, view, splendor, praise and honor” “honor” or “value, deference and reverence”, “and peace” which refers to “harmony, concord, security, safety, prosperity and felicity”, “to every man” or “to each, all, the whole and and everyone human whether male or female” “that works good” which means “who exercises, performs, commits and produces useful, salutary, pleasant, agreeable, joyful, happy, excellent and distinguished acts”. Paul .

The verse goes on to say, “... to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:” Paul continued with the words, “to the Jew” which means “the person who belongs to the Jewish nation as respects to birth, origin and religion” “first” or “in chief and principal place”, “and also” which means “and even so and indeed” “to the Gentile” or “the name that embraces all nations not Jews that made the language, customs, and learning of the Greeks their own”. Paul shared how “glory, honor and peace” were toward “Jewish” people first and then toward everyone else.

When we meditate upon words of Paul, we see the “consequences” for those who do “good works”. These include “glory, honor and peace”, and they are desired by most people who live. These results come to those who “perform and exercise” “excellent and distinguished” acts as they follow Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”. The “Jews” received these blessings “first”, and then everyone else had access to them. To all who read these word, let the “glory, honor and peace” of the Lord Jesus be upon them for their “good deeds”.

Next time Paul tells how there is, “no respect of persons with God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
