The Judgment of God is According to Truth Romans 2:2

Paul the apostle told the church members in Rome, “you are inexcusable, O man, whosoever you are that judges: for wherein you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that judge do the same things”, and in chapter two and verse two of Romans, Paul shared how, “the judgment of God is according to truth” where we read:

But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

The verse begins, “But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth ...” Paul began with the word, “but” which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence over what was just stated “we are sure” or “Paul and his companions perceive, notice, discern, see and discover” “that the judgment” which refers to “that decree, condemnation of wrong, decision, punishment and penal sentence” “of God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “is according” or “is down from, through out, toward and along” “to truth” which means “to what is true in any matter under consideration, certainty, reality and fact”. Paul was “certain” that God's “decree and condemnation of wrong” is “true”.

The verse goes on to say, “... against them which commit such things.” Paul added the words, “against” which means “in position across or opposed to” “them which commit” or “the people who exercise, practice, are busy with, carry on and undertake to perform, accomplish and do” “such things” or “of this kind and sort”. God's “true judgment” was and is exercised in opposition to people who “condemn themselves” by judging others.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how he went directly to “God's true” judgment after addressing those who judge others. God has complete and full information about people and their circumstances, and when He “judges”, His “judgment is according to truth”. God's Son Jesus came to the earth because every person was “condemned” to judgment, (“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” John 3:17), and when Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world, every person may now receive God's provision for their “judgment”. Jesus Christ will stand in place of every person who puts their “faith and trust” in Him for “salvation”, and anyone who rejects this provision, shall only have their sinful selves to face God's “true judgment”.

Next time we see Paul asks those who “judge” if they think they, “shall escape the judgment of God?”, so read ahead
