One Body In Christ Romans 12:5

Paul the apostle told the believing people in Rome, “we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office”, and in chapter twelve and verse five of Romans, Paul told his believing readers, “” where we read:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
The verse begins, So we, being many, are one body in Christ, ...Paul began with the words, “so we” which means “so Paul, his companions and the believing readers in Rome” “being many” or “existing as a large and plenteous group”, “are one body” which refers to “as one living corpse” “in Christ” which means “within the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul confirmed that all the different believers or “members” were as “one” living entity or corpse.

The verse continues, ... and every one members one of another.. Paul added the words, “and every one” which means “each, all, the whole and everyone of” “members” or “the limbs or parts” “one of another” which means “reciprocally and mutually”. Paul identified how all the “members” within the body were part of the whole, and each of them were interdependent upon the others.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how there are many parts to the “body of Christ” even as there are many “members” in our own bodies. Jesus Christ came to save people from their sins, and once they receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they become a part of His body – the church. Each part of the body is important to the whole, and all of them need one another to be complete. Though the “members” are different, they each have a role in body of Christ.

Next time we see Paul tell his believing readers in Rome what to do, “having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
