The Riches of God's Glory on Vessels of Mercy Romans 9:23

Paul the apostle asked the people in Rome, “What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:” In chapter nine and verse twenty-three of Romans, Paul continued to share about God as he referred to, “the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy” where we read:

And that he might make known the riches of his glory
on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared unto glory,

The verse begins, And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, ...Paul began with the words, “and that he might make known” which means “and so God could certify, declare and give understanding about” “the riches” or “the wealth, abundance of eternal possessions, fullness and plenitude” “of his glory” or “pertaining to God's splendor, brightness, majesty and honor” “on the vessels” which means “upon the implements and utensils” “of mercy” or “pertaining to kindness and goodwill toward the miserable and afflicted with the desire to help them”. Paul shared how God also desired to “reveal” His “abundant eternal possessions” upon people to whom He extended His “kindness and goodwill”.

The verse goes on to say, ... which he had before prepared unto glory, Paul added the words, “which he had before which means “that God had in advance” “prepared” which means “ordained and made ready” “unto glory” or “toward splendor, brightness, majesty and honor”. Paul shared how God planned in “advance” to show forth His “splendor, brightness, majesty and honor”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how it was God's plan to pour out His “abundant blessings” upon people to whom He extends His “mercy”. Though His wrath will be shown upon those who “reject” His offer of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, God has “eternal possessions” He desires to give those who accept Him. Not only did Jesus come to “die for the sins of the world”, but He also provided the way by which people may be blessed with God's “majesty” for all of eternity. Those who are wise shall understand God's magnificent plan and yield to His Son Jesus and His “glory” today.

Next time we see Paul tells his readers how God's mercy was,not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
