God Taking Away His Part Revelation 22:19

After sharing much of the beauty of the heavenly city and looking upon the wonders that shall be there, Jesus declared to John the apostle, “Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” John continued,And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which showed me these things. Then said he unto me, See you do it not: for I am your fellow-servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” John added, “And he said unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.” In Revelation chapter twenty-two and verse nineteen John relayed the warning, “if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy” where we read:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
The verse reads, “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, ... John began with the words, “and if” which means “and whether” “any man” which refers to “and person whether male or female” “shall take away” which means “will remove, carry or cut off” “from the words” or “in separation of the speech, writing, sayings, decrees, mandates and orders” “of the book” or “pertaining to the scroll, written document and sheet” “of this prophecy” which refers to “belonging to this discourse emanating from divine inspiration and declaring the purposes of God, whether by reproving and admonishing the wicked or comforting the afflicted or revealing things hidden; especially by foretelling future events”. John warned against anyone “taking away” “words” or declarations from “this prophetic book”.

The verse goes on to say, “... God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. John continued with the word, “God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “shall take away” which means “will remove, carry or cut off” “his part” which means “that person whether male or female's duly assigned measure, degree, portion and course” “out of the book” or “separate from the scroll, written document and sheet” “of life” or “belonging to real, genuine, active and vigorous life devoted to God which is blessed in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last for ever”, “and out” or “and away from” “of the holy city” which refers to “pertaining to this pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated dwelling place and abode”, “and from the things” or “and separate from any of the things“which are written” which means “that are delineated and formed in letters” “in this book” or “within this scroll, written document and sheet”. John warned that God would “remove” the person's name from the “book of life”, the “holy city” and from the “happenings, events and occurrences” delineated within this “book”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we should take heed to the “warning” within this verse. No one is to “add to or take away” from any of the “words” written within the book of Revelation, and those who do shall have their “names” removed from God's “book of life”. They will not be able to enter into the “holy city”, and they shall experience the horrific things which are written within this book. God desires this for no one because He desires a relationship with them through His Son Jesus. Those who submit their lives to Him shall find no need to “add to” or “remove” any of the words in this “prophecy”, but woe be to those who attempt to manipulate these words to their own advantage.

Next time John shares what happens, “he which testifies these things says, surely I come quickly more, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
