Jesus Sent His Angel to Testify These Things Revelation 22:16

After sharing much of the beauty of the heavenly city and looking upon the wonders that shall be there, Jesus declared to John the apostle, “Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” John continued,And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which showed me these things. Then said he unto me, See you do it not: for I am your fellow-servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” John continued, “And he said unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.” In Revelation chapter twenty-two and verse sixteen John shares how Jesus has, “sent” His “angel to testify unto you these things in the churches” where we read:

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
The verse reads, I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. John began with the words, “I Jesus” which means “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind, God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “have sent mine angel” or “have dispatched and bid Jesus' messenger, envoy and one sent” “to testify” which means “to be and bear witness, i.e. to affirm that one has seen or heard or experienced something or that he knows it because taught by divine revelation or inspiration” “unto you” which refers to “to the people who read John's words” “these things” or “the events and happenings which John recorded” “in the churches” which refers to “within the assemblies, gatherings and companies of those who are hoping for eternal salvation through Jesus Christ”. Jesus himself “sent His angel” to bear witness of all the happenings and events which John recorded.

The verse continues, “I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. John continued with the words, “I am the root” which means “Jesus is the offspring and progeny” “and the offspring” which refers to “and the kindred, stock, descent and nationality”, “of David” which means “belonging to the second king of Israel and the ancestor of Jesus Christ whose name means beloved”, “and the bright” or “and the shining, clear, transparent, splendid and magnificent” “and morning star” which means “and early relating to the morning star”. Jesus declared Himself to be the “descendant of King David” and the “shining and brilliant star” of the dawn.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see that Jesus is the rightful One to be the “Savior and Lord” of the world. He was the earthly “descendant” of King David, and his brilliance outshines the “dawning sun”. God desires for everyone to have a relationship with this “Jesus” who alone is able to “save” mankind, and all who believe and trust in Him as their personal “Savior” shall inherit “everlasting life” with God. Nothing is more brilliant and shining than that proposition.

Next time John declares, “and the Spirit and the bride say, Come more, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
