His Name is Jesus Matthew 1:25

Matthew continued to share how there were three separate “fourteen generations” which were involved in Jesus' coming, and he referred to Jesus' birth by the Holy Spirit and through Mary before she and Joseph “came together”. “Joseph” was “not willing to make” Mary “a public example”, “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-five of his book, Matthew shares how Joseph, “called his name Jesus” where we read:

And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
The verse reads, And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: Matthew began with the words, “and knew her not” which means “did not have sexual intercourse between a man and a woman” “till” or “until” “she had brought forth” or “Mary had birthed, bore and produced” “her firstborn son” which means “first male child”. Matthew shared how Joseph and Mary did not have conjugal relations until Jesus was born which was her “firstborn”.

The verse continues, and he called his name JESUS. Matthew added the words, “and he called” which means “and Joseph saluted and gave the male child” “his name” or “the child's title and word by which He is called and saluted” “Jesus” which means “Jehovah is Salvation”. Matthew shared how Joseph “named” Mary's “firstborn child” “Jesus” or “Jehovah is Salvation”.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Joseph obeyed the “angel's” command to name the “child” Jesus which by implication is God's answer to “salvation”. “Jehovah is Salvation” is the meaning of Jesus' name, and God's plan, even in His name, demonstrates His intention to send a Messiah to “save” man from His sinful fate. God will “save” every person who will submit their lives to Him, and when they consider the lengths to which God went to bring salvation unto them, perhaps everyone reading these words shall yield their lives to Jesus the Messiah.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Matthew shares how, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
