These Sayings are Faithful and True Revelation 22:6

After all the events of the tribulation period, the millennial reign of Jesus and the “Great White Throne” judgment, John the apostle wrote, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” John described the heavenly city as he wrote, “And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” In Revelation chapter twenty-two and verse six the angel declares to John, “these sayings are faithful and true” where we read:

And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
The verse reads, And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: John began with the words, “and he said” which means “and the angel declared, uttered and proclaimed” “unto me” or “toward John”, “these sayings” which means “the declarations, uttering and proclamations previously made” “are faithful” or “are trustworthy, can be relied upon and confident” “and true” which means “veracious, sincere and opposite to what is fictitious, counterfeit, imaginary, simulated or pretended”. John .

The verse goes on to say, “and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.” John continued with the words, “and the Lord” which means “he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “of the holy prophets” which means “pertaining to the pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated ones who were moved by the Spirit of God and hence his organ or spokesman and solemnly declare to men what he has received by inspiration especially concerning future events and in particular such as relate to the cause and kingdom of God and to human salvation” “sent” or “dismissed, appointed and set at liberty” “his angel” which refers to “God's messenger, envoy and one sent” “to show” or “to expose, give evidence or proof” “unto his servants” which refers to “toward God's bondservants and ones of servile condition” “the things which” or “those happenings or events that” “must” which means “is necessary, behooves and is right and proper to” “shortly” or “in brief time and moment” “be done” which means “happen, arise, appear and come upon the stage”. John shared how God sent His “angel” to share with His “followers, believers and servants” “things” that will soon “come to pass”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how God validates His “angel's” words by stating that they are “faithful and true”. He also gives the reason for sharing all these things: that God's followers may know the things which He has planned for the future. God desires for people to know Him through a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ, and once they give their lives over to Him, He wants them to know their “faithful and true” future. God intends for everyone reading His word to know His plans for them, and they access His intentions by yielding to His Son Jesus.

Next time we see John shares how Jesus says, “behold, I come quickly, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
