Another Kingdom Shall Arise - Daniel 2:39

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how he spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar about his dream and said, “You, O king, are a king of kings: for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven has he given into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all. You are this head of gold, and in Daniel chapter two and verse thirty-nine Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “after you shall arise another kingdom” where we read,

And after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you,

and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

The verse reads, “And after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, ... Daniel began with the words, “and after you” or “and following you, King Nebuchadnezzar” “shall arise another kingdom” which means “will be set up, established and appointed another royal reign and rule which is” “inferior to you” or “downward and lower than you, King Nebuchadnezzar”. Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that there would be a subsequent ruling empire established that would be lower or less in power than him.

The verse continues, “... and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.” Daniel added the words, “and another third kingdom” which means “on one other third royal reign and rule” “of brass” or “composed of copper and bronze metal”, “which shall bear rule” which means “that will have power, dominion and mastery” “over all the earth” or “above each, every and the whole of the world”. Daniel said there would be a “third” reign which was represented by the “brass” or “copper and bronze metal” that would have mastery which covers the world.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel about two more “kingdoms” that were to come on the scene following the rule of King Nebuchadnezzar. These realms were represented by the “silver and brass” metals that King Nebuchadnezzar saw in the “image” of his “dream”. We shall learn more about these kingdoms in our future verses, but for now let us see how God revealed this to Daniel and it is part of His plan of salvation for mankind. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (See John 3:16-18) When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal His will to us through His Holy Spirit in keeping with His Divine plan and purpose for our lives.

Next time Daniel shares how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “and the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
