God Setting Up a Kingdom - Daniel 2:44

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how he spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar about his dream and said, “whereas you saw the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas you saw iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse forty-four of his book, Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom” where we read,

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The verse reads, “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: Daniel began with the words, “and in the days” or “and within the time periods and seasons” “of these kings” which means “pertaining to these royal rulers and leaders” “shall the God of heaven” or “will the Supreme Deity belonging to the sidereal heaven where God dwells and other spiritual beings” “set up a kingdom” which means “fix, erect and establish a royal realm or rule”, “which shall never be destroyed” or “that will not in any way or at any time be hurt, demolished or ruined”. Daniel shared how Jehovah God the Supreme Deity will establish a royal rule that will never be hurt or demolished within the time period that the kingdom of the “iron mixed with clay” is revealed.

The verse goes on to say, “and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” Daniel continued with the words, “and the kingdom” which means “and the royal reign and rule” “shall not be left” or “will in no way or manner be allowed to remain or let alone” “to other people”which means “toward other human beings”, “but it shall break in pieces” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover it, the Supreme Deity's kingdom, will shatter, crush and crumble into parts and particles” “and consume all these kingdoms” which means “and put to an end, fulfill and complete each, every, the whole and everyone of the royal reigns and rules”, “and it shall stand for ever” or “and it, the Supreme Deity Jehovah God's royal reign, will arise, come on the scene, be established and endure unto perpetuity, eternally and unto everlasting”. Daniel said the royal rule of the Supreme Deity Jehovah God would not be let allowed to remain toward other human beings, however it would shatter and crush all the other royal reigns and endure eternally.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how Jehovah God will establish the final “kingdom” among people, and not only will His royal reign finish all the other ruling empires, but it will also endure for all eternity. God wants everyone to be in His eternal “kingdom”, and access to it is gained by believing and trusting in His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When God raised Him from the dead after three days, He made the way for us to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and provided with His Holy Spirit when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord” and thereafter grow in our relationship with Him for ever and evermore.

Next time Daniel shares how he told King Nebuchadnezzar more about, “the stone … cut out of the mountain without hands”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
