In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how he spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar about his dream and said, “whereas you saw the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with miry clay”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse forty-two Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken” where we read,
And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay,
so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
The verse reads, “And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, ...” Daniel began with the words, “and as the toes of the feet” or “and because, since and on account that the physical toes belonging to the feet of the image” “were part of iron” which means “were a portion or section pertaining to iron metal”, “and part of clay” or “and a portion or section pertaining to muddy and sloppy clods or potsherd” the following will be true. Daniel referred to the “iron and clay” makeup of the “feet and toes” of the image King Nebuchadnezzar observed and said the following about them.
The verse goes on to say, “... so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.” Daniel continued with the words, “so the kingdom” which means “even thus and the same royal realm and rule” “shall be partly strong” or “will exist as mighty and powerful in part”, “and partly broken” which means “and in part fragile and separated into fragments”. Daniel said this kingdom represented by the physical “feet and toes” of the image seen by King Nebuchadnezzar was to be in part powerful and in part weaker and fragile.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel about this fifth world ruling empire that was to arise. This kingdom was to be in part strong like iron metal and in part fragile like muddy potsherd used by potters. Each of these were to be used by Jehovah God in bringing forth His Kingdom in the world. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when He raised Him from the dead three days later, He made the way for us to be forgiven of our sins, granted eternal life and given the insight of His Holy Spirit to know, “the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” (See Revelation 11:15)
Next time Daniel shares how he told King Nebuchadnezzar more about, “the iron mixed with miry clay”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
