John
the apostle wrote, “
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the
sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve
stars: and she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and
pained to be delivered.” He
continued, “And
there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red
dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his
heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and
did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman
which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as
it was born”,
and in chapter twelve and verse five of Revelation, John shared how
the woman
“brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations” where
we read:
And
she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod
of iron:
and
her child was caught up unto God, and to
his throne.
The
verse reads, “
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a
rod of iron:”
John
began with the words, “and
she brought forth”
which means “and the woman birthed, bore and produced” “a
man child”
or “a son or male descendant”, “who
was to rule”
which means “who was to feed, tend, keep and govern over” “all
nations”
which refers to “each, every, the whole and everyone of the
multitudes of individuals with the same nature or genus, tribes and
people groups”
“with a rod”
or “a staff, walking stick, twig or branch” “of
iron”
which means “made with iron”. John saw how the “woman”
gave
birth to a “Son” who was destined to “rule
over” every nation
with an “iron
staff”.
The
verse goes on to say “and
her child was caught up unto God, and to
his throne.”
John
continued with the words, “and
her child”
which means “and the woman's
son” “was
caught up”
or “was seized, carried off by force, claimed eagerly and snatched
away” “unto
God”
or “toward the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “and
his throne”
which means “and God's chair of state having a footstool and
assigned to kingly power or royalty”. John told how the “woman's
son” was “seized and claimed” by God Almighty who was seated
upon his “royal throne”.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we see how the “woman”
(Israel) was used to bring forth a “son” (Jesus) who was to “rule
and reign” over all the “nations” in the world, and
though “the red dragon” (Satan) attempted to “kill and
destroy” Him, Jesus was “caught up” to be with God in “heaven”
who still remains seated upon His “throne”. God intended
to “save” people through His Son Jesus, and although “Satan”
and all his “angels or demons” attempted to stop His effort, God
rescued Jesus from all His attempts. Let all who read these words
know that God sent His Son and all the powers of “hell” did not
and shall not prevail against Him.
Next
time John shares how the “woman
fled into the wilderness
”
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
