A Third Angel with a Message Revelation 14:9

After writing about the “beast or the antichrist” and “the dragon – the devil or Satan” being worshiped by people upon the earth, John the apostle wrote, “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication”, and in chapter fourteen and verse nine of Revelation John, “the third angel followed them” where we read:

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

The verse reads, “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, ...” John began with the words, “and the third angel” which means “and the third of the messengers, envoys or ones sent” “followed them” or “joined as an attendant, accompanied and sided with ”, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” “with a loud voice” or “with a large, great and abundant tone or sound”. John saw how the “third angel” joined the others and cried aloud a warning.

The verse goes on to say, “… If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,” John continued with the words, “if any man” which refers to “whether any person male or female” “worship” or “reverence, pay homage to and adore” “the beast” which means “the ferocious animal which is the antichrist” “and his image” or “and the antichrist's figure, likeness and idol”, “and receive” which means “to lay hold, claim, procure, strive and obtain” “his mark” which refers to “the antichrist's sign, stamp or imprinted brand” “in his forehead” or “upon the place between the eyes”, “or in his hand” which means “or upon the person's hand”. The “third angel” warned those who “worshiped” the antichrist and took his “mark” on their “forehead or hand”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how this “angel” was commissioned with issuing a warning to people who “worship the antichrist” and receive “his mark and sign” upon their “forehead” or “hand”. Though the people who “worship” the “beast” and “receive” his “mark” have a choice to do so, the consequences they shall incur will be horrific. This is not the way God desires for it to be. God sent His Son Jesus to “die” for the sins of every person, and when they receive Him as “Savior and Lord”, they not only shall “receive everlasting life” but shall also be spared from His “judgment” that is certain to come upon them. May all who read these words take heed and accept Jesus and His plan of “salvation” today.
