The Song of Moses Revelation 15:3

As John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation, He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophets and angels who were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received the Lord Jesus during that time. In chapter fifteen and verse one of Revelation John wrote, And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God”, and in chapter fifteen and verse three of Revelation John saw those standing upon the “sea of glass mingled with fire” “sing the song of Moses” where we read:

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are your ways, you King of saints.

The verse reads, And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, ...” John began with the words, “and they sing” which means “and the people who overcame the antichrist praise with singing” “the song” or “the lay or ode” “of Moses” which means “which was from Moses whose name means drawing out” and was “the legislator of the Jewish people and in a certain sense the founder of the Jewish religion” “the servant” or “the bondman, man of servile condition, attendant and one who gave himself up to God's will” “of God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “and the song” or “and the lay or ode” “of the Lamb” which refers to “the little lamb which represents Jesus”, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”. John heard the ones standing upon the “Sea of glass” singing “Moses and Jesus'” songs.

The verse goes on to say, “... Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are your ways, you King of saints.John added the word, “great” which means “large, massive and abundant” “and marvelous” or “and wonderful, admirable, excellent and beyond human comprehension” “are your works” which means “are God's employments, business and things done”, “Lord” which refers to “the one to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “Almighty” or “one who holds sway over all things and ruler of all”; “just” which means “righteous, virtuous and in keeping with the commands of God” “and true” or “that which is opposite to what is fictitious, counterfeit, imaginary, simulated or pretended” “are your ways” which means “are God's course of conduct, manner of thinking, feeling or deciding”, “you King” or “God who is the commander, leader and lord of the land” “of saints” which refers to “pertaining to the pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated ones”. John heard the ones “standing upon the sea of glass” proclaiming in song the “great and marvelous” works and “ways” of God Almighty.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we can imagine this huge crowd of people rendering worship and praise unto God Almighty for all His wonderful works and ways among men. Though these people were “saved” out of the tribulation period upon the earth, their commission and joy was to proclaim in “song” the wonderful works of God. This sort of praise is what God desires, and a person who receives Him through a relationship with His Son Jesus may burst forth in song and praise which declares the wonderful works and ways of God well in advance of this group standing upon the “sea of glass”. May all who read these words receive Him, and join the choir of those who worship and praise the Lord.

Next time John shares how they continued the song with the question, “who shall not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
