As
John the apostle continued to share concerning the events during the
tribulation, He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophets and
angels who were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers
who received the Lord Jesus during that time. John
wrote, “And
I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels
having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of
God. And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them
that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and
over his mark, and
over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the
harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and
the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are
your works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are
your ways, you King of saints”,
and John asked, “Who
shall not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name?” and
answered,
“for you
only are
holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for your
judgments are made manifest.” In
chapter fifteen and verse five of Revelation John beheld “the
temple of the tabernacle of testimony in heaven”
where
we read:
And
after that I looked, and, behold,
The
verse reads, “And
after that I looked, and, behold, ...”
John
began with the words, “and
after that”
which means “and following the song sung” “I
looked”
or “John saw, perceived, noticed, discerned and discovered”,
“and, behold”
which means “and lo and see”. John's attention was diverted to
something else after he heard the “song
sung”
by the people who were standing upon the “sea
of glass mingled with fire”.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:”
John
continued with the words, “the
temple”
which means “the sacred edifice or sanctuary which consisted of the
Holy place and the Holy of Holies” “of
the tabernacle” or
“which pertained to the well known movable temple of God which was
the pattern for the temple built in Jerusalem” “of
the testimony”
which means “pertaining to the witness or evidence given” “in
heaven”
or “in the region above the sidereal heavens where the seat of
order of things eternal and consummately perfect are and where God
dwells and other heavenly beings” “was
opened”
which means “was opened up and unimpeded”. John saw the “opening”
of the “temple”
of God as well as the “witness of heaven” and the “model of the
tabernacle”.
When
we consider upon John's words in this verse, we see the beginning of
a new event for John. His vision of the “temple
of God”
is brought to his attention because it is
“opened”
now. This means something is forthcoming, and John's attention should
be upon the “sanctuary doors” of this edifice that holds “the
testimony”
and the vision of the “tabernacle”
of God. God desires every person to put their attention upon Him, and
He offers His Son Jesus Christ to “save” them from their sins. He
knows the “truth” about everyone, and no one is exempt from His
sight. The question becomes, “will they look upon Him?” May all
who read these words look toward God's “temple
of testimony”
before these things come to pass.
Next
time John watched as,
“seven angels came out of the temple”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
