John
the apostle shared how he, “stood
upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea,
having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and
upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And
the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as
the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the
dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I
saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly
wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And
they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshiped the beast, saying, Who is
like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was
given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and
power was given unto him to continue forty and
two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to
blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in
heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to
overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and
tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship
him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb
slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let
him hear”,
and in chapter thirteen and verse ten of Revelation John shared how
the beast “he
that leads into captivity shall go into captivity” where
we read:
He
that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with
the sword
must
be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the
saints.
The
verse reads, “He
that leads into captivity shall go into captivity:”
John
began with the words, “he
that leads into”
which means “the person whether male or female who gathers,
collects and draws together as of a net in which they are caught”
“captivity”
or “imprisonment, incarceration, enslavement and subjugation”
“shall
go into”
which means “will lead, bring under and depart toward”
“captivity”
or
“imprisonment, incarceration, enslavement and subjugation”. John
shared how people who
“lead”
others into “enslavement and incarceration” will be “imprisoned,
incarcerated, enslaved and subjugated”.
The
verse goes on to say, “he
that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the
patience and the faith of the saints.”
John
added the words, “he
that kills”
which means “the person who destroys, extinguishes, abolishes and
inflicts with mortal death” “with
sword”
or “using a large knife, straight and small sword, dagger or dirk”
“must
be killed”
which means “needs to be and is behooved to be destroyed,
extinguished, abolished and inflicted with mortal death” “with
the sword” or
“a large knife, straight and small sword, dagger or dirk” “here
is the patience”
or “in this place and spot is the steadfastness, constancy and
endurance” “and
the faith”
which means “the conviction that God exists and is the creator and
ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation
through Christ” “of
the saints”
which refers to “pertaining to the pure, morally blameless and the
religiously and ceremonially consecrated ones”. John shared how
people who “murder” with a “cutting knife, dagger or dirk”
will receive the same judgment they have exercised upon others.
When
we consider John's words in this verse, we see the idea of “sowing
and reaping” employed in the kingdom of God whereby those who
“imprison” others shall be “imprisoned” themselves. Those who
“murder” others shall be “murdered” themselves. As Paul the
apostle wrote in Galatians chapter six and verse seven, “Be
not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that
shall he also reap”, and this
promise gives “faith”
to everyone who believes and trusts in Jesus Christ. God oversees and
governs over all things, and those who inflict others in these ways
shall receive of their wicked works and woe be to those who follow
their pernicious ways.
Next
time John shares how he,
“beheld
another beast coming up out of the earth”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
