John
the apostle shared how, “And
the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven,
saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the
kingdoms
of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and
ever”,
and in chapter eleven and verse sixteen of Revelation John shared how
“the four and twenty elders...worshiped God” where
we read:
And
the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats,
fell
upon their faces, and worshiped God,
The
verse reads, “And
the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, ...”
John
began with the words, “and
the four and twenty elders”
which means “the twenty-four
presbyters, judges or rulers”,
“which
sat”
or “who were seated, fixed, established and occupied” “before
God”
which means “in the presence and in front of the Godhead bodily and
trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the
Holy Spirit” “on
their seats”
or “upon their thrones or chairs having a footstool”. John
noticed the “twenty
four elders”
who were sitting in the presence of God upon their “thrones”.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
fell upon their faces, and worshiped God”.
John
added the word, “fell”
which means “were thrust down, prostrate and descended from a
higher place to a lower” “upon
their faces”
or “on their front of their head or looking toward the ground”,
“and
worshiped”
which means “reverenced, did homage to, knelt and made obeisance
to” “God”
or “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the
Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John watched as the
“twenty
four elders” knelt
and prostrated themselves in humility to give praise and honor to
God.
When
we consider John's words in this verse, we see the reaction of the
“twenty
four elders” to
the declaration,
“the
kingdoms of this world are become the
kingdoms
of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and
ever”. Immediately
they humbled themselves, fell upon their faces and “worshiped”
God Almighty. This should be the response for every person, and
especially those who have received God's Son Jesus Christ as their
personal “Savior and Lord”. God rules, and those who are wise
shall not only think about the response of these
“twenty four elders”,
but also humble themselves and join them in giving glory to the God
of the Universe.
Next
time John shares what
the “twenty
four elders”
proclaimed in their worship,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
