John
the apostle shared how God said,
“I
will give power
unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred
and
threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees,
and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if
any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours
their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner
be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the
days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to
blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they
will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast
that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them,
and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall
lie
in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom
and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And their dead bodies
shall
lie
in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom
and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people
and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies
three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be
put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over
them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because
these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.”
In chapter eleven and verse eleven of Revelation John shared how the
two witnesses'
“life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet”
where
we read:
And
after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into
them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them
which saw them.
The
verse reads, “And
after three days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into
them, and they stood upon their feet;”
John
began with the words, “and
after three days and a half”
which means “when three and one half days have expired and passed”
“the
Spirit”
or “the vital principal by which the body is animated”
“of life”
which refers to “pertaining to real life, genuine, active, vigorous
and blesses” “from
God”
which means “out of and by the Godhead bodily and trinity which is
comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”
“entered”
or “arose and came” “into
them”
which means “in the two witnesses”, “and
they stood”
or “and the two witnesses made firm, fixed, established and rose”
“upon
their feet”
which means “on the feet of their bodies”. John the apostle
watched as these “two
witnesses”
arose from their “dead state” and “stood
upon their feet”.
The
verse goes on to say, “and
great fear fell upon them which saw them.”
John
continued with the words, “and
great fear”
which means “and a massive and abundant terror, dread and
reverence” “fell
upon them”
or “descended and was thrust down on the people” “which
saw them”
which means “who were looking upon and observing the
two witnesses”.
John saw the people become extremely frightened who were watching and
celebrating the death of the “two
witnesses”.
When
we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we can imagine the looks
upon the people's faces when they see these “two
witnesses”
rise from their death. The people were celebrating, rejoicing,
passing gifts to one another and partying over their “deaths”,
and now in front of them and the entire world these “two
witnesses”
stand upon their feet and are alive again. Only God can do this, and
He will show Himself strong once again over those, including the
beast from the bottomless pit, who oppose and think they have
conquered His own. God wants people to know Him through a
relationship with His Son Jesus, but if they reject and oppose Him,
we may know for certain, God will manifest Himself in a way that will
cause “great fear and awe” in all who come against Him or His
“witnesses”.
Next
time John shares how the two witnesses were told by a “voice
from heaven”
to, “come
up here”
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
