The Number of the Beast - 666 Revelation 13:18

After writing about the “beast or the antichrist” and “the dragon – the devil or Satan” being worshiped by people upon the earth, John the apostle wrote, “If any man have an ear, let him hear.” John continued with the words, “He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceives them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark,

or the name of the beast, or the number of his name”, and in chapter thirteen and verse eighteen of Revelation John shared, “the number of the beast - 666” where we read:

Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast:

for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The verse reads, “Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast:” John began with the words, “Here is” which means “in this place and spot resides and lives” “wisdom” or “intelligence and knowledge and skill of affairs and diverse matters”. “Let him” which means “allow and permit the person whether male or female” “that has understanding” or “who holds, owns and possesses intellectual faculty, capacity for spiritual truth, higher powers of the soul, perception of divine things and recognizing goodness and of hating evil” “count” which means “compute, calculate, reckon and decide” “the number” or “a fixed and definite number” “of the beast” which refers to “which pertains to the ferocious and wild beast or antichrist”. John shared concerning the “intelligence and knowledge” of those who “recognize” the “fixed and definite number” of the antichrist.

The verse continues, “for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” John added the word, “for” which means “because and since” “it is the number” or “it is the fixed and definite number” “of a man” which means “pertaining to a person whether male or female”; “and his number” or “and the beast or antichrist's fixed and definite number is” “Six hundred threescore and six” or “six hundred and sixty six. John said the “number” of the “antichrist” was the “number” of a “person” a which is “six hundred and sixty six”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how the “number” mandates for every person to receive in order to engage in business related activities is “six hundred and sixty six”. This “mark of the beast” includes three “sixes” which is the biblical number of “man”. No one will be able to “buy or sell” without this “number”, and the “number” “666” or a number that identifies a person with the “antichrist”, God desires through a relationship with His Son Jesus to keep every person from having to receive it. Let all who read these words take heed to God's warning concerning this “number” of the “beast” and receive Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” today.
