Two Wings of a Great Eagle Revelation 12:14

John the apostle wrote, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time, and when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child, and in chapter twelve and verse fourteen of Revelation John shared how the “the women was given two wings of a great eagle” where we read:

And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

The verse reads, And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, ... John began with the words, “and to the woman” which means “and toward the female whom John saw which represents Israel” “were given” or “was granted, bestowed, furnished and supplied” “two wings” which means “two wings like a bird” “of a great eagle” or “which pertain to a massive and large eagle”, “that she might fly” which means “so the woman would be able to take flight” “into the wilderness” or “into the desert, solitary, lonely and uninhabited place”. John saw “the woman” (Israel) given the ability to “take flight” to the “desert place” by means of “eagle like” “wings”.

The verse continues, “... into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. John added the words, “into her place” which means “into the woman's portion, space, city, village or district”, “where she is nourished” or “where the woman is supported, fed, fattened and nourished” “for a time” or “the in that place for a year”, “and times” which refers to “and two years”, “and half a time” or “and one half of a year” “from the face” which means “apart and separate from the forefront, countenance, look and appearance” “of the serpent” which refers to “pertaining to the snake like being which was the devil or Satan”. John saw how the “woman” (Israel) was able to flee into her “desert place” and would be “supported and fed” for three and one half years and kept safe from the countenance of the “devil”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how God has His plan of escape for His people Israel. Though the “devil” shall attempt to destroy her, Israel will be preserved for the latter three and one half years of the “tribulation period”. God desires through His Son Jesus to keep every person from experiencing the troubles that shall come on the earth, and He wants to protect them from “Satan's” onslaughts. When a person receives Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they are not exempt from troubles, but they are promised to be “over-comers” in all of them. (See Romans 8:37) Let all who consider the “two wings of an eagle” given to the “woman” realize God's great escape plan to save all the world if they will only yield themselves to Him.

Next time John shares how, “the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
