A New Song Sung Revelation 14:3

After writing about the “beast or the antichrist” and “the dragon – the devil or Satan” being worshiped by people upon the earth, John the apostle wrote, “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps, and in chapter fourteen and verse three of Revelation John heard these voices as they, “sung as it were a new song” where we read:

And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

The verse reads, And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: John began with the words, “And they sung” which means “and the one hundred and forty four thousand praised with singing” “as it were” or “like or even as” “a new song” which means “a recent, fresh, unused and unworn lay or ode” “before” or “in front or in the presence of” “the throne” which refers to “the chair of state having a footstool and therefore denotes kingly or royal power”, “and before” or “in front and in the presence of” “the four beasts” which refers to “the four living creatures”, “and the elders” or “and the twenty four members of the heavenly Sanhedrin or court seated on thrones around the throne of God”. John heard the “one hundred and forty four thousand” people who were with “the Lamb – Jesus” singing a brand new “song” before God's “throne, the four beasts and the twenty-four elders”.

The verse continues, “and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.” John added the words, “and no man” which means “and no person whether male or female” “could learn” or “was able to increase in knowledge, be informed and ascertain more understanding toward” “that song” which means “the recent, fresh, unused and unworn lay or ode” “but” or “except and whether they were part of” “the hundred and forty and four thousand” which refers to “the one hundred and forty four thousand” “which were redeemed” which means “who were purchased” “from the earth” or “out and away from the arable land, country, territory and region”. John shared how this “song” being “sung” by the “one hundred and forty four thousand” people was “comprehended and understood” exclusively by the singers of it.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how the “one hundred and forty four thousand” people were given an exclusive “song” which could only be learned and “sung” by them. No one else was allowed to sing this song except for these “redeemed” people during the tribulation period. All others were permitted only to listen. God has His order, and He gives “exclusive songs” to those whom He wills, however, He offers “salvation” through His Son Jesus to everyone who will submit their lives to Him. May all who read these words wonder and be amazed at the “song” of the “one hundred and forty four thousand” and align with God's plan of “salvation” for all.

Next time John shares how , “these are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
