More about the Stump - Daniel 4:26

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and Daniel said, “This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king. That they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever he will”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-six of his book Daniel shared more with King Nebuchadnezzar about his dream by saying, “whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots” where we read,

And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; your kingdom shall be sure unto you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule.

The verse reads, “And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots;” Daniel began with the words, “and whereas” or “and in relation and concerning that” “they commanded to leave the stump” which means “the angels ordered and directed to allow the base trunk of roots to remain and be let alone” “of the tree roots” or “belonging to the tutors or root stock of the physical tree” the following shall occur. Daniel referred to how the angels ordered the base of the “tree” with it’s tubers to be allowed to remain for the following reason.

The verse goes on to say, “your kingdom shall be sure unto you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule.” Daniel continued with the  words, “your kingdom” which means “your, King Nebuchadnezzar’s, royal rule and reign” “shall be sure unto you” or “will exist as permanent and stedfast to you, King Nebuchadnezzar”, “after that you shall have known” which means “following the time when you, King Nebuchadnezzar, will exist as informed, certified and taught” “that the heavens do rule” or “that the sidereal or heavenly abode of God has mastery, authority and ruling”. Daniel said King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign would be stedfast following the time that he understood that the heavenly abode of God has authority and mastery.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how he referred to the “stump of roots” (King Nebuchadnezzar) that was to remain within the plain until such time that he understood who was in control of everything, and afterward his royal realm would be stedfast. God wants us to be in a close, personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of everyone and was raised from the dead after three days, and  when we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit in us so we will understand that He has a stedfast plan and is working it out through the leaders and people of the world.

Next time Daniel tells King Nebuchadnezzar, “let my counsel be acceptable unto you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
