The Interpretation of the Dream - Daniel 4:24

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and Daniel began to tell him the meaning of it by declaring, “The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth; Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation. It is you, O king, that are grown and become strong: for your greatness is grown, and reaches unto heaven, and your dominion to the end of the earth.  And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-four of his book Daniel said, “this is the interpretation, O king” where we read,

This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High,

which is come upon my lord the king:

The verse reads, “This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, …” Daniel began with the words, “this is the interpretation” or “the following exists as the rendering, meaning and explanation”, “O king” which means “O royal ruler and leader”, “and this is the decree”  or “and the following is the sentence” “of the most High” which means “pertaining to the highest and Supreme God”. Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that the following existed as the meaning and explanation of the dream, and the following was also the directive and sentence belonging to the highest Supreme Deity.

The verse goes on to say, “… which is come upon my lord the king:” Daniel continued with the  words, “which is come upon” which means “that has reached, extended and happened to” my lord the king or “my, Daniel’s, master who was the royal ruler and leader”. Daniel said the words in the next verse were to happen to his master and royal ruler and leader, King Nebuchadnezzar.

When we meditate upon Daniel’s words in this verse, we discover how he began to share the meaning of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream to him. Daniel knew this was God’s sentence and directive that was to arise upon King Nebuchadnezzar, and because God knows all things, none of this was a secret or mystery to Him. God knows our sinful condition, and because those sins lead to death, He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He resurrected Him from the grave after three days so all who believe and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit that will lead and guide them into all truth and empower them to live after the same. (See Romans 3:23; 6:23; John 3:16; John 16:13)

Next time Daniel tells King Nebuchadnezzar, “they shall drive you from men”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
