In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream about a tree, and after declaring it to his wise men he said to Daniel, “This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now you, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but you are able: for the spirit of the holy gods is in you. Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spoke, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate you, and the interpretation thereof to your enemies. The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-one of his book Daniel reviewed with King Nebuchadnezzar about, “the leaves, fruit and meat” of the tree where we read,
Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
The verse reads, “Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all;” Daniel began with the words, “whose leaves were fair” or “the tree’s leafage and foliage existed as beautiful”, “and the fruit thereof much” which means “and the young, fresh and green fruit belonging to the tree was exceedingly abundant”, “and in it was meat for all” or “and within it, the tree, existed food and nourishment on behalf of every person”. Daniel continued to repeat what King Nebuchadnezzar told him about the “leaves, fruit and meat” of the tree being nourishment for everyone in the world.
The verse goes on to say, “under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:” Daniel continued with the words, “under which the beasts” which means “beneath the tree the animals” “of the field dwelt” or “belonging to the plains lived, abode and inhabited”, “and upon whose branches” which means “and on the bough of the tree where” “the fowls of the heaven” or “the birds belonging to the sky” “had their habitation” which means “resided and lived”. Daniel repeated how the animals within the plains and the birds of the sky lived and abided within the foliage and bough of the tree.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Daniel repeated King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream to him before he told him what it meant. This was detailed comprehension, and only God could give Daniel such precise ability. God wants this type of relationship with all of us, however our sins have separated us from Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and to be raised from the dead after three days for our salvation. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us so we are informed according to His perfect will and purpose for our lives.
Next time Daniel shares how King Nebuchadnezzar says, “It is you, O king, that are grown and become strong”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
