Rabbith, Cushion and Abez - Joshua 19:20

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “the fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the children of Issachar according to their families. And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem. And Hapharaim, and Shion, and Anaharath”, and in chapter nineteen and verse twenty of Joshua we learn about , “Rabbith, Kishion, and Abez” where we read,

And Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez,

The verse reads, And Rabbith, and Kishion,…Joshua or the writer began with the words, “and Rabbith” whose name means “multitude” and was “a town in Issachar”, “and Kishion” whose name means “hard” and was “a town on the boundary of Issachar allotted to the Gershonite Levites”. Joshua or the writer shared how Rabbith and Kishion” were along the border of the territory allotted to the “tribe of Issachar”

The verse goes on to say, … and Abez,Joshua or the writer added the words, and Abez” whose name means “I will make white (or miry)” and was “a town in Issachar”. Joshua or the writer added “Abez” to the dwelling places that were assigned to the people of “Issachar”

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover more about the boundary to the land given to the “tribe of Issachar”. City by city and border by border the allotted territory for the people of “Issachar” was being delineated by Jehovah God through Joshua. God loves to bless people, and He loves to be blessed. (See Psalm 34:1) We bless Him and He blesses us when we receive His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and to be raised from the dead after three days. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and give us the ability to live according to that truth so our lives are a testimony and witness of the value of blessing each other. (See John 3:16; 16:13; Acts 1:8; Revelation 4:11)

Next time we learn about, “Remeth, Engannim, Enhaddah, and Bethpazzez”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
