As in the Days of Noah - Matthew 24:37

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus told His disciples, Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh. So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse thirty-seven of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus referred to, “the days of Noah” where we read:

But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The verse reads, But as the days of Noah were, ...” Matthew began with Jesus' word, “but” which means “moreover and” “as the days” or “like and in the same manners as the times” “of Noah were” which means “pertaining to the way of things during Noah's time upon the earth whose name means rest and was the tenth in descent from Adam and second father of the human family” “knows” or “perceives, notices, discerns and discovers” “no man” which refers to “not one person whether male or female”. Matthew shared how Jesus referred to the way things existed during the “time” when Noah was alive.

The verse continues, “... so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew added Jesus' words, “so shall also” or “even as, indeed and it will occur, happen and come to pass” “the coming” which means “the arrival, appearing and arising” “of the Son of man be” or “of God's Son Jesus”. Matthew shared how Jesus said His return will be in like manner as it was in the “days” or “times” of Noah.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus began to share another example of how it will be in the “days before His coming” and the “end of the world”. Jesus referred to the way things were when Noah was upon the earth. God knows the way things will be when Jesus returns, and He knows the time of the “end of the world”. His desire is to “save” every person who will submit their lives to His Son Jesus as “Savior and Lord”, and those who are wise will yield their lives to Him and receive the “everlasting life” He offers.

Next time Matthew writes how Jesus shares about, “the days that were before the flood”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
