The Greatest Tribulation Ever - Matthew 24:21

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse twenty-one of his book Matthew writes how Jesus said, “then shall be great tribulation” where we read:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time,

no, nor ever shall be.

The verse reads, For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, ...” Matthew began with Jesus' words, “for then” which means “because, since and on account that at that time and moment” “shall be great tribulation” which means “will be large and massive pressing, trouble, affliction, distress and straits”, “such as was not since the beginning” or “in what sort and manner that did not occur or happen from the distance of time of the start and origin” “of the world” which means “pertaining to the circle of the earth with all it's goods, endowments riches, advantages and pleasures”. Matthew shared how Jesus said the time when the “abomination of desolation” occurs will be the beginning of “massive troubles and afflictions” like there have not been since the origin of the earth.

The verse goes on to say, “... no, nor ever shall be.” Matthew continued with Jesus saying, “no” or “neither and not in any way”, “nor ever shall be” which means “will be made, finished, performed or worked”. Matthew shared how Jesus declared nothing like the “great tribulation” will ever exist.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we discover Jesus' declaration concerning the most horrible times that ever existed upon the earth. Shortly after the “abomination of desolation”, a “massive distresses and troubles” will come upon the earth. Nothing as atrocious as this has ever happened before, and there will never be anything like this again. God's desire is to “save” every person through His Son Jesus, and He wants to keep them from experiencing this unleashing of His wrath. All who read these words should take heed and yield their lives to Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” before these things come to pass.

Next time Matthew writes how Jesus says, “except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
