Reigning Forever and Kingdom without End - Luke 1:33

Luke the physician shared how the “angel Gabriel” told Mary, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David, and in chapter one and verse thirty-three Luke shared how “Gabriel” told Mary her son will, “reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end” where we read:

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

The verse reads, “And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; Luke began with the words, “and he shall reign” or “and the son of Mary will rule, exercise kingly power and govern”“over the house” which means “upon the stock, family and descendants” “of Jacob” or “belonging to Jacob whose name means supplanter or heel-catcher” “forever” which means “”to the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity”. Luke shared how Mary's son would be the “ruler and governor” over the people of “Jacob” or “Israel”.

The verse goes on to say, “and of his kingdom there shall be no end.” Luke continued with the words, “and of his kingdom” which means “and pertaining to the royal power, rule, reign and realm of Mary's Son” “there shall be no end” or “the will exist no termination, ceasing or finish”. Luke shared how the “rule and reign” of Mary's son would never be terminated.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn about the far reaching extent of the Kingdom which will be given to Mary's Son Jesus. Jesus will rule over “Israel”, and there will be no termination to His rule. God loves people, and His desire is for them to have “everlasting life” with Him. When a person yields their life to His Son Jesus, they become part of the family of God and subjected to His eternal Kingdom and rule. May all who read these words not only understand Jesus' power and rule, but also submit themselves to Him so they may live with Him “forever”.

Next time Luke shares how Mary asks the angel, “how shall this be?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
