In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how he spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar and said, “You, O king, saw, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before you; and the form thereof was terrible. This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, ...”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse thirty-three of his book, Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar that he saw an image with, “legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay” where we read,
His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
The verse reads, “His legs of iron, ...” Daniel began with the words, “his legs” or “his, the idolatrous figure's, lower legs” “of iron” which means “made with iron metal”. Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that the idolatrous figure standing before him had lower legs which were made with iron metal.
The verse goes on to say, “... his feet part of iron and part of clay.” Daniel continued with the words, “his feet” which means “his, the idolatrous figure's, feet” “part of iron” or “a portion or segment was made of iron metal” “and part of clay” which means “and a portion or segment was made of potsherd or clods”. Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that they idolatrous figure possessed feet which were fashioned with iron metal and potsherd.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the idolatrous figure that was seen by King Nebuchadnezzar had lower legs which were fabricated with iron metal, and it's physical “feet” were a mixture of iron metal and dirt clods. Daniel will explain what all these features mean in the verses following, but for now let us use our imaginations to see this ominous figure that was seen by King Nebuchadnezzar. God was using this “dream” to reveal the future of mankind to King Nebuchadnezzar and vicariously to us. God wants us to live with Him forever, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was resurrected from the dead after three days, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of knowing He has the past, present and future in His hands.
Next time Daniel shares how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “you saw till that a stone was cut out without hands”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
