This is the Dream - Daniel 2:36

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how he spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar and said, “You, O king, saw, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before you; and the form thereof was terrible. This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, his legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. You saw till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse thirty-six of his book, Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “this is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation” where we read,

This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

The verse reads, “This is the dream; Daniel began with the word, “this” or “the description Daniel gave to King Nebuchadnezzar” “is the dream” which means “exists as the mental imagery” which was seen by King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel said that which he shared with King Nebuchadnezzar was the “dream” that came to him.

The verse goes on to say, “and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.” Daniel continued with the words, “and we will tell the interpretation thereof” which means “and we, Daniel alongside the other Hebrew children, shall speak and declare the rendering and meaning of the dream” “before the king” or “in front and in the presence of the royal ruler and leader.” Daniel said he would reveal the meaning of the “dream” to King Nebuchadnezzar.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Daniel declared his revelation to be King Nebuchadnezzar's “dream”, and he told him he would reveal the meaning of it to him. God was sharing how His plan of salvation was at hand, and Daniel was chosen to share this “dream” of the future with King Nebuchadnezzar and eventually with us. God loves people, and He knew everyone would need a “Savior” because everyone sins. Those sins lead to death, and for this reason God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and raised Him from the dead after three days. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit so He may reveal to us whatever He desires. (See Romans 3:10,23; 6:23; John 3:16)

Next time Daniel shares how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “you, O king, are a king of kings”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
