What Shall Come to Pass - Daniel 2:29

In the book of Daniel, Daniel shared how he went to Arioch, and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will show unto the king the interpretation. Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation. The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof? Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, show unto the king. But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, are these”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse twenty-nine Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “he that reveals secrets makes know to you what shall come to pass” where we read,

As for you, O king, your thoughts came into your mind upon your bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that reveals secrets makes known to you what shall come to pass.

The verse reads, “As for you, O king, your thoughts came into our mind upon your bed, what should come to pass hereafter: Daniel began with the words, “as for you, O king” or “concerning and with respect to you, King Nebuchadnezzar, O royal ruler and leader”, “your thoughts came into your mind” which means “entered your, King Nebuchadnezzar's, cognition and mental conception”“upon your bed” or “on your, King Nebuchadnezzar's, place of lying or couch”, “what should come to pass hereafter” which means “that which is to happen and occur afterward or in the future”. Daniel shared how he told King Nebuchadnezzar that the mental conceptions that made their appearance while he was on his “place of lying or couch” concerned things that would happen in the future.

The verse goes on to say, “and he that reveals secrets makes known to you what shall come to pass.” Daniel continued with the words, “and he that reveals secrets” which means “and he, the Supreme Deity Jehovah, who uncovers and exposes” “makes known to you” or “informs, discloses and unveils” “what shall come to pass” which means “that which will certainly happen and occur”. Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that Jehovah God who is the Supreme Deity would inform him of that which would occur in the future.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover how Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that the mental cognitions which came into his mind were concerning that which would happen in the future, and God Himself was revealing His hidden mysteries to him. God is eternal, and He lives outside of the time continuum. He is able to see the past, present and future all at one time, and therefore He knew what would happen in advance of King Nebuchadnezzar and everyone else. (See Deuteronomy 33:27) God desires to give us “eternal life” through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He resurrected Him from the dead after three days so when we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us by His Holy Spirit to know that He is aware of the future and He is totally in control.

Next time Daniel shares how he told King Nebuchadnezzar, “this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
