Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, there are
“diversities of gifts and
administrations”,
but the “same Spirit and Lord”.
In
chapter twelve and verse six of First Corinthians, Paul shared with
the church members how there are, “diversities
of operations”,
where we read:
And
there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which
works all in all.
The
verse begins, “Now
there are diversities of operations, ...”.
Paul began
with the word, “now”
which means “moreover and” “there
are diversities”
which means “divisions, distributions, differences and distinctions
arising from a different distribution to different persons” “of
operations” which
means “thinkings wrought, workings or effects”. Paul noted the
“different” “workings or effects” of the “spiritual
gifts”
given to the church.
The
verse continues, “... but
it is the same God which works all in all.”
Paul added
the word, “but” which
means what is about to be written takes precedence over what was just
stated “it is the same”
or “it is the identical and selfsame” “God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “which
works” or
“who puts forth power, aids and effects activity” “all
in all”
which means “in each, every, the whole and everyone one of these
operations”. Though there are “different workings and effects”
of the “spiritual gifts”,
it is God Almighty who provides the “power” for them to be
“effective”.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we understand the source of
the “effects” that arise from “spiritual
gifts”. It
is not the person who possesses or administers the
“gifts”
but rather the Lord God who provides the “power” for them to be
“effective”. Jesus Christ desires for His church to be blessed
and “built up” by His “spiritual
gifts”,
and in order for them to be “effective workings”, God the Father
provides the results. Let us realize God Almighty is the true source
of the “gifts of the Spirit”,
the “administration”
of them and their “effectiveness” in the church.
Next
time Paul tells the church members, “the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
