Paul
the apostle “praised” the
church members in Corinth as they “remembered”
him “in
all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them
to you.”,
and in chapter eleven and verse three of
First Corinthians, Paul told the Corinthian church members “the
head of man, woman and Christ” where
we read:
But I
would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ;
The verse begins, “But
I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; ”.
Paul began
with the word, “But”
which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “I
would have you know” or
“Paul wanted the church members to perceive, notice, discern and
discover”, “that the head”
which means “the supreme, chief, prominent and master” “of
every man”
or “each, any, all, the whole, everyone of the male human being”
“is Christ”
which refers to “the anointed one, the Messiah and the Son of God”.
Paul desired for the Corinthian church members to know the order of
authority under God which he began with the “man”
being under
“Christ's”
headship.
The verse goes on to
say, “and
the head of the woman is
the man; and the head of Christ is
God.”. Paul
began with the words, “and the head”
which means “the supreme, chief, prominent and master” “of
the woman” or
“the female of any age whether a virgin, married or a widow” “is
the man”
which refers to “the male human being”; “and
the head”
or “the supreme, chief, prominent and master” “of
Christ”
which refers to “the anointed one, the Messiah and the Son of God”
“is God”
who is “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul gave
instruction that the “authority” over the woman “is
the man”,
and the “authority” over “Christ”
is “God”
Himself.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we may feel this is one of the
most threatening teachings he conveyed to the Corinthian church. His
concern is “order”, and if we think through this properly, we
will never see “God” abusing His power and “authority” over
Christ Jesus, nor do we see Jesus “abusing” His authority over
man. We should also never see “man” abusing his
“authority” over the “woman”, and in contrast, each of
these in “authority” should understand their “awesome
responsibility” to be protecting and providing for those whom they
oversee. Simply stated, God doesn't abuse Jesus, and Jesus doesn't
abuse man and a man should never abuse a woman. Accountability shall
be required for all those in authority or as “heads” over
others, and it is certain that “God” and “Christ”
shall show themselves faithful, and every “man” should be
faithful as well.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members about a, “man
praying or prophesying, having his
head covered”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
