Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “by
one Spirit are we all baptized into one body”,
and because we are, it makes no difference whether we are “Jews
or Gentiles, bond or free”.
Paul also state that we “have been
all made to drink into one Spirit”,
and in
chapter twelve and verse fourteen of First Corinthians, Paul shared
with the church members how there are, “all
these works that one and selfsame Spirit”,
where we read:
For
the body is not one member, but many.
The
verse begins, “For
the body is not one member, ...”.
Paul began
with the word, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “the body”
which refers to “the living corpse” “is
not one member” which
means “is not comprise of only one sole part”. Paul used the
example of how, “the body”
of a person does not contain only “one part”.
The
verse goes on to say, “... but
many.” Paul
continued with the word, “but”
which is a
disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written
takes precedence over what was just stated “many”
or “much and large amounts of parts”. A person's “body” is
comprised of multitudes of smaller parts.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we see how he is using the “human
body” to demonstrate how there are different “parts or
components” and yet “one body” that comprise it. Thus it
is with the “body of Christ”. The church of Jesus has many
different “parts” to it, and yet it remains “one unit or body”.
All the “components” or “different parts” of “the body
of Christ” are important to it's function, and as we continue
to learn from Paul's analogy, let us understand the beauty of the
complexities of God and His church.
Next
time Paul asks the church members what would happen, “if
the foot shall say, because I am not the hand”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
