Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, there are
“diversities of gifts, different
administrations and diversities of operations”,
but the “same Spirit, Lord and God”.
In
chapter twelve and verse seven of First Corinthians, Paul told the
church members, “the
manifestation of the Spirit is given...to profit”,
where we read:
But
the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit
withal.
The
verse begins, “But
the manifestation of the Spirit ...”.
Paul began
with the word, “but”
which means what is about to be written takes precedence over what
was just stated “the manifestation”
which means “the expression, exhibition and bestowment” “of
the Spirit” which
means “of the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit who
is coequal and coeternal with the Father and the Son ”. Paul
referred to the “expression and exhibition” of “God's
Spirit” concerning
“spiritual gifts”.
The
verse continues, “... is
given to every man to profit withal.”
Paul added
the words, “is given” which
means “is granted, supplied, furnished, delivered, extended and
presented” “to every man”
which refers to “to each, all, the whole and every human being
whether male or female” “to profit
withal”
which means “to bear together or at the same time, carry with
others or collect and contribute in order to help”. Paul declared
that the “expression” of the “Spirit”
was to “benefit, contribute to and help” every person.
When
we think through these words from Paul, we see how God desired to
bless people with His “spiritual gifts”, and those who
receive them are indeed “profited” by them. Jesus Christ
knows we need “spiritual gifts” to carry out the tasks to
which He has commissioned us, and when we enjoy the benefits of them,
we are able to do what we cannot do on our own. Let us understand the
importance of God's “spiritual gifts” and thereby be
“profited” by the used of them.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members concerning, “the
word of wisdom” and
“the word of knowledge”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
