Paul
the apostle declared how the man “ought
not to cover his
head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is
the glory of the man”,
and in
chapter eleven and verse eight of First Corinthians, Paul shared with
the Corinthian church members how, “the
woman” is
“of the man”,
where we read:
For
the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
The verse begins, “For
the man is not of the woman;”. Paul
began with the word, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “the man” or
“the male human being” “is not
of” which
means “is not out or away” “of
the woman” which
refers to “from the female human being whether married, unmarried
or widowed”. Paul referred to how “the male human being” was
initially created by God rather than coming from the “the female
human being”.
The
verse continues, “but
the woman of the man.” Paul
added the word, “but” which
is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “the
woman” or
“the female human being whether married, unmarried or widowed”
“of the man”
which refers to “from the male human being”. Paul referred to the
way “the female human being” initially was “created” by God
taking from the side of “the male human being”.
When
we think through these words from Paul, we note his reference “order”
of creation of humans. God created “the man” from the dust
of the earth, and he created “the woman” from Adam's side.
(See Genesis 2:7, 21-22). We follow Paul's teaching in this area
because he is sharing concerning “order” and “authority”
within Jesus Christ's church in Corinth, and by referring to God's
order in creation, he demonstrates the necessity for “order”. As
we continue to study this area, let us realize all people, whether
male or female, God came to save through His Son Jesus Christ, and as
we remember God's order of creation, let us also remember God's
saving and abounding love toward everyone.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members concerning, “the
woman” was
created “for the man”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
