Paul the apostle told
the church members in Corinth, “the
head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is
the man; and the head of Christ is
God”, and
in chapter eleven and verse four of First
Corinthians, Paul shared with the Corinthian church members
concerning, “every
man praying or prophesying, having his
head covered”,
where we read:
Every
man praying or prophesying, having his
head covered, dishonors his head.
The verse begins,
“Every
man praying or prophesying, ...”.
Paul began
with the words, “every man”
which means “each, all, the whole and everyone of the males”
“praying” which
refers to “who supplicates, worships or makes prayer” “or
prophesying”
which refers to “speaking forth by divine inspirations and to
predict”. Paul referred to the man who openly “prays”
and “prophesies”
before “Christ”.
The
verse continues, “...having
his
head covered, dishonors his head.”
Paul added
the words, “having his head” which
means “holding, owning and possessing his supreme, chief, prominent
and principle part of the body” “covered”
or “has something on his head”, “dishonors”
or “disgraces, shames, suffers repulse and has deceived” “his
head”
which means his “supreme, chief, prominent and principle part of
the body”. Paul mentioned “dishonor”
would come to a man who “prays and
prophecies”
having a“veil” or “covering”
on “his head”.
The “veil” which
would screen a person from another, and in the “man's”
case, would screen him from “Christ”.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see how the “man”
was to approach the “head” or “authority” in his life,
“Christ”, without a “covering on his head”.
“Christ”, who is not seen with the natural eye, is the
“head of man”, and when a “man” comes before
Him in “prayer” or “prophesying”, he has no
need to “veil” or “cover” himself. Jesus Christ
desires an open relationship with “man”, and He has
provided access to Himself through His death on the cross and
resurrection from the grave. Let all “men” who will come
before the Lord just as they are and “pray” and “prophesy”
before Him.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members concerning, “every
woman that prays or prophesies with her
head uncovered”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
