Seal Up What the Seven Thunders Uttered Revelation 10:4

As John the apostle continued to share about the “tribulation” that was to come upon the earth, he shared concerning the first six seals Jesus removed from the “scroll” in God's right hand. He wrote about what happened when Jesus, “had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets … And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth angels” blew their trumpets, and great judgment fell upon the earth. John continued, “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.” In chapter ten and verse four of Revelation John was told to, “seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered” where we read:

And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

The verse reads, And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: John began with the words “and when” which means “at the time and moment” “the seven thunders” or “the seven thunders as like in a storm” “had uttered” which means “had proclaimed, declared, articulated, emitted and spoken” “their voices” or “the seven thunders' sounds and tones of uttered words, tongues or language”, “I was about to write” which means “John was going to delineate with letters upon a tablet, parchment, paper, or other material”. As soon as John the apostle heard what the “seven thunders” said, he was going to “write” what they said.

The verse continues, “... and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.” John added the words, “and I heard” which means “and John was given the faculty for hearing, discerning and discovering” “a voice” or “an uttered tone or sound used for words, language or tongues” “from heaven” which means “coming out of the sidereal heavens where the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells as well as other heavenly beings” “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” “unto me” which means “toward John”, “seal up” or “mark, hide, conceal and keep secret and in silence” “those things which” which refers to “the words, language and tongues that” “the seven thunders” or “the seven thunders like in a storm” “uttered” which means “proclaimed, declared, articulated, emitted and spoke”, “and write them not” or “and do not delineate the seven thunders' words on a tablet, parchment, paper, or other material”. John was interrupted by a voice from “heaven” when he was going to “write down” what the “seven thunders” said, and he was which instructed to keep those words “secret”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we understand God's authority over all things as He instructed John not to write down what the “seven thunders” said. To this day we do not know what they uttered, and it shall remain that way until God chooses otherwise. No doubt these were interesting words or John would not have desired to write them, but God knows what should remain secret and what should not. God's desire is to save every person who will receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and those who do shall have a relationship with Him that will not be affected by the “seven thunders'” words regardless of how daunting they are. May all who read these words remember, The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29)

Next time John shares how the angel, “lifted up his hand to heaven”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
