After
the worship scene in heaven where “the
Lamb”
of God received the “scroll” in God's right hand, the tribulation
period began upon the earth, and John the apostle “saw
when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the
noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I
saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and
a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to
conquer,
and
when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say,
Come and see. And
there went out another horse that
was
red: and power
was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and
that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a
great sword”,
and in chapter six and verse five of Revelation John saw “the
third beast say, come and see” and
he saw “a
black horse”
where
we read:
And
when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come
and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him
had a pair of balances in his hand.
The
verse reads, “And
when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come
and see.”
John
began with the words, “and
when”
which means “at the time and moment” “he
had opened” which
means “Jesus unfastened and loosed” “the
third seal” or
“the third signet seal from the scroll”, “I
heard”
or “John was
endowed with the faculty of hearing, was attentive to, considered and
understood”
“the
third beast”
which refers to “the third of the four living beings which
surrounded God's throne” “say”
or “utter, declare and proclaim”, “Come”
or “make
appearance, arise, show yourself and be established”
“and
see”
which means “perceive,
notice, discern, discover and observe”.
John saw Jesus “unfasten” the “third signet seal” which was
upon the “scroll”, and he “heard
the third
living being” instruct him to “show himself and perceive” that
which he was going to show him.
The
verse continues, “And
I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of
balances in his hand.” John
added the words, “and
I beheld”
which means “and John looked, perceived, saw, discerned and
discovered”, “and
lo”
or “and behold” “a
black horse”
or “a horse that was colored like unto black ink”; “and
he that sat” which
means “and the certain one who was seated, occupied and dwelt”
“on
him”
or “upon the black horse” “had
a pair of balances”
which means “held, owned and possessed scales” “in
his hand”
or “within his hand”. When John looked upon this “black
horse”,
he notice it's rider had “balancing scales” within his hand.
When
we consider John's words in this verse, we discover this “third”
horse and horseman that were employed by God to pour out judgment
upon the earth. The one riding this “black horse” was
holding a “balance scale” in his hand, and the “scale” would
indicate God's next judgment upon the earth. God does not desire
people to go through these times of judgment, and He sent His Son
Jesus to save them from their sins so they would not have to endure
them. Today is His day of “salvation” before these “horsemen”
arise, and may all who consider these things in advance “Come
and see”.
Next
time
John shares how he, “heard
a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a
penny”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
