As
John the apostle continued to share about the “tribulation” that
was to come upon the earth, he shared concerning the first six seals
Jesus removed from the “scroll” in God's right hand. He began to
write about what happened when Jesus,
“had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the
space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before
God; and to them were given seven trumpets … And the seven angels
which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first,
second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth angels” blew
their trumpets, and great judgment fell upon the earth. John
continued,
“And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with
a cloud: and a rainbow was
upon his head, and his face was
as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he had in
his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea,
and his
left foot
on the earth, And cried with a loud voice, as when
a lion roars: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their
voices. And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was
about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal
up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
And
the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up
his hand to heaven, And swore by him that lives for ever and ever,
who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth,
and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which
are therein, that there should be time no longer: ”
In chapter ten and verse seven of Revelation John shared how, “the
mystery of God should be finished” where
we read:
But
in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to
sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he has declared to
his servants the prophets.
The
verse reads, “But
in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to
sound, ...”
John
began with the word “but”
which means “nevertheless, notwithstanding, yea and moreover” “in
the days”
or “at the moment and general time” “of
the voice” which
means “pertaining to the sound and tone of the uttered words,
language and tongue” “of
the seventh angel”
or “by the seventh messenger, envoy or one sent”, “when”
which means “at the time and moment” “he
shall begin”
or “the angel will commence, intend, have in mind, think to and be
on the point” “to
sound”
which means “to blow or blast his trumpet”. John referred to the
time when the “seventh
angel”
shall “intend and think” to blow his trumpet.
The
verse continues, “...
the mystery of God should be finished, as he has declared to his
servants the prophets.”
John
added the words, “the
mystery”
which means “the hidden thing and secret purpose” “of
God”
or “pertaining to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “should
be finished”
which means “will be brought to a close, end, be passed and
completed”, “as
he has declared”
or “as God has uttered, proclaimed and spoken” “to
his servants”
which means “to God's slaves, ministers, attendants and bondmen”
“the
prophets”
or “the ones who were moved by the Spirit of God and therefore were
God's organ or spokesmen who solemnly declared to men what they have
received by inspiration, especially concerning future events and such
as relate to the cause and kingdom of God and to human salvation”.
John shared how the blast of this “seventh
angel's
trumpets would signal the completion of God's hidden “secret”
given to His prophets which was to provide salvation to people.
When
we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see the importance of
this “seventh angel's trumpet” blast. This was to be the
beginning of the disclosure of God's “salvation” plan through His
Son Jesus to everyone who believes and trusts in Him. God desires for
every person to be saved, however, if they refuse His offer of
“salvation”, His judgment will be poured out upon them. God's
“mystery” shall be completed at this time, and woe be to
those who reject the greatest offer ever extended to man.
Next
time John shares how the angel instructed John to
“go
and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
