After the worship scene in heaven where “the Lamb” of God received the “scroll” in God's right hand, the beginning of the tribulation to come upon the earth began and John the apostle saw the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and the sixth seals were opened and great troubles came upon the earth with each of them. He wrote, “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands, and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb”, and in chapter seven and verse eleven John saw “all the angels round about the throne” where we read:
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God,
The verse reads, “And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, ...” John began with the words, “and all” which means “and each, every, the whole and everyone of” “the angels” which means “the messengers and envoys” “stood round about” or “were standing, fixed and established on all sides and in a circle around” “the throne” which refers to “the chair of state having a footstool which was assigned to kings and therefore showing kingly power or royalty”, “and about the elders” or “and around or surrounding the twenty-four members of the heavenly court seated on thrones around the throne of God” “and the four beasts” which refers to “the four living beings”. John saw the “angels, elders and four living beings” surrounding the “throne of God”.
The verse goes on to say, “... and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God.” John added the word, “and fell” which means “descend from an erect to a prostrate position” “before” which means “in front and in the presence of” “the throne” or “the chair of state having a footstool which was assigned to kings and therefore showing kingly power or royalty” “on their faces” or “upon their the fronts of their heads or countenances”, “and worshiped” which means “and reverenced, knelt and prostrated themselves to do homage or make obeisance toward” “God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John saw all the “angels, elders and four living beings” prostrate themselves before God in “worship” to Him.
When we think through John's words in this verse, we see this marvelous scene where all of heaven worships God. The multitude dressed in “brilliant white robes, the angels, the elders and the four beasts” shall all join in a concerted “worship” of God. Everyone will bow before God, and all shall make their obeisance to His Son Jesus. “Every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Romans 14:11), and this is the fulfillment of this prophecy in part. Everyone shall profess Jesus Christ to be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and that will take place while they are living or after they have died. Today is the day of “salvation” provided by God through His Son Jesus, and those who are wise shall receive Him as “Savior and Lord” and be a part of this wonderful worship session where the “angels, elders and four living beings” will join together to praise Almighty God.
Next time we John sees what this massive crowd is saying before God, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
