After
the worship scene in heaven where “the
Lamb”
of God received the “scroll” in God's right hand, the beginning
of the tribulation to come upon the earth began. John the apostle saw
the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and the sixth seals were
opened and great troubles came upon the earth with each of them. He
continued, “And
I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the
living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to
whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the
earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the
servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of
them which were sealed: and
there were
sealed an hundred and
forty and
four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.”,
and in chapter seven and verse four of Revelation John saw how there
“were
sealed twelve thousand” from
“the
tribes of Judah, Reuben and Gad” where
we read:
Of
the tribe of Judah were
sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were
sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were
sealed twelve thousand.
The
verse reads, “Of
the tribe of Judah were
sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were
sealed twelve thousand.”
John
began with the words, “of
the tribe”
which means “from the nation and people” “of
Judah”
which means “he shall be praised” and was “the fourth son of
the patriarch Jacob” “were
sealed” which
means “set
a mark upon by the impress of a seal or stamp”
“twelve
thousand” or
“” “Of
the tribe”
or “from the nation and people” “of
Reuben”
which means “behold a son” and was “Jacob's firstborn child by
Leah” “were
sealed”
or “set
a mark upon by the impress of a seal or stamp”
“twelve
thousand”
which means “two and ten thousand people”. John saw “twelve
thousand”
people “marked” with God's “signet
seal”
from each of the tribes of “Judah
and Reuben”.
The
verse goes on to say, “Of
the tribe of Gad were
sealed twelve thousand.” John
added the words, “of
the tribe”
which means “from the nation and people” “of
Gad”
which means “a troop” and was “the seventh son of the patriarch
Jacob by Zilpah who was Leah's maid” “were
sealed”
which refers to “setting a mark upon by the impress of a seal or
stamp” “twelve
thousand” or
“two and ten thousand people”. John also saw “twelve
thousand”
people “marked” with God's “signet seal”
from the tribe of “Gad”.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we see how “twelve
thousand” people were chosen by God to “mark” with His
“signet seal” from the tribes of “Judah, Reuben and
Gad”. It is interesting to note that “Judah” is
mentioned first because “Reuben” was the first-born of
Jacob. “Rueben” forfeited his first-born place when he
sinned against his father, (See Genesis 35:22) and the next two sons,
Simeon and Levi, sinned as well (See Genesis 34) which put Judah in
first position. Jesus came through the tribe of “Judah”,
and He is God's “Savior” to the world. As the people from the
tribes are “marked” with God's “signet seal” let us
keep in mind that God desires to “seal” everyone with His
Holy Spirit now, and those who are “marked” with Him shall have
no need to endure the great troubles of the tribulation time.
Next
time
we John sees how, “twelve
thousand” were
“sealed”
of the tribes of “Asher,
Nepthalim and Manasseh”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
